Wick Communications is seeking a managing editor to lead the newsroom of the Montrose Daily Press community newspaper in Montrose CO located on the beautiful Western Slope of Colorado.

The Montrose Daily press is a daily digital and 5 day a week, Tues - Sat, publication.

This is the perfect “next step” for a strong reporter ready to lead a team or a seasoned editor who wants to focus on creating quality content for the community.

Montrose offers a variety of experiences for its community members from great schools, indoor and outdoor recreation, community events and much more. Our community boasts a high quality lifestyle.

The managing editor will direct our staff in daily community coverage, social media and newsletter engagement, audio and video platforms as well as our latest endeavor our social media engagement platform, NABUR.

The job is as challenging as it is rewarding. The editor writes, edits, works with our pagination team, and is the face of the paper to the community. We’re looking to the future of community journalism on a variety of platforms and a managing editor who will lead the way.

The Montrose Daily Press is owned by Wick Communications, a family-owned local media company based in Sierra Vista, Arizona. The company has consistently been a digital leader in our industry. It has received two Google News Initiative funding awards in the past two years and has participated in both Poynter’s Table Stakes program and Meta’s Reader Revenue Accelerator.

The company has newspapers in 11 western states including two in Colorado, Wick has an editorial director in Green Valley, Arizona, to help you.

This is a full-time, salaried position with full benefits, including medical and vision insurance, and a 401k retirement plan.
