Are you passionate about analyzing code and building beautiful applications for digital product initiatives? The Poynter Institute for Media Studies is seeking a Back-end Web Developer who is an expert in PHP and MySQL to improve existing back-end applications and processes. This position will manage all things server-side on a small and nimble web team, working in a supportive, flexible, and collaborative environment.
Poynter’s media website and other digital products are recognized industry leaders providing journalism content, and educational resources in key subject areas including leadership, ethics, fact-checking, media literacy, local news, broadcast and multimedia and a variety of modes for online learning. This role will be a key collaborator on the in-house web team working through a backlog of projects based on a roadmap of product milestones to ensure functional, well written code and timely release of successful projects.
Our ideal candidate is an analytical problem solver who has Wordpress and agile/scrum experience and is adept at anticipating requirements and providing insights into planning solutions.
