The Denver Post, Colorado’s No. 1 source of news, is seeking a seasoned editor to
lead a talented team of experienced journalists, coaching them to write with urgency, depth and authority.
This is a competitive news environment so the successful applicant should value breaking news -- but also be a sophisticated editor able to set priorities, understand what stories are worth pursuing, and work with reporters to develop regular high-quality enterprise stories and longer projects.
We are seeking an editor who understands the need to put our readers at the center
of all decision making and will have a firm grasp of both print and digital journalism,
including a willingness to use audience data as a component in editorial choices.
We want you to help guide big ideas, hone a lede and ask tough questions. Our
editors engage with reporters in lively discussions about coverage so we are looking
for a person comfortable in that atmosphere. You will be part of a team that
supports and pitches in as needed.
Applicants should have 10 years of daily journalism experience, at least five
of it as an editor handling both daily and long-term copy. A full understanding of AP
style and libel law are a must, as are basic digital skills.
