TENURE TRACK FACULTY
Kent State University’s School of Media and Journalism (MDJ) invites applications for a full-time, tenure track position at the rank of associate or assistant professor with a start date of August 2022.
We are particularly interested in candidates whose research/creativity activity and/or professional experience align with one or more of the following areas: digital and broadcast media production and storytelling; media law; advertising; and the implications and impact of the emerging media metaverse.

The successful candidate will have the opportunity to develop, lead, and contribute to collaborative, interdisciplinary projects across the School’s four undergraduate areas of study (advertising, digital media production, journalism, and public relations) and graduate programs focused on media and journalism and journalism education, and to work with partner schools across the College of Communication and Information.
The School of Media and Journalism is part of the College of Communication and Information (CCI), a unique collaboration that brings together five distinct but interrelated fields of study – media, design, communication, information, and digital technologies. CCI faculty are creative, dynamic, and interdisciplinary and we seek candidates that fully embrace the opportunities that the College offers for transdisciplinary collaboration among our fields. MDJ embraces the same interdisciplinarity and collaborative spirit in our approach to research, creative activity and teaching.

Candidates who progress through the first round of interviews will need to submit formal statements discussing the future direction of their research/ creative activity and their student-centered teaching experience.
Candidates are expected to have a terminal degree (doctorate, JD, MBA, or MFA) or a master’s degree with significant professional experience. Professional experience is preferred for all candidates. All candidates must have a clear path to tenure and promotion.
